A Place to Belong, Believe, and Become

Welcome to St. John the Evangelist Baptist Church located in the Hazelwood community of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are a Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ, nurturing spiritual growth, and serving our community with compassion and purpose.

Whether you are visiting for the first time, searching for a church home, or returning to your faith journey, we want you to know that you are welcome here. At St. John the Evangelist Baptist Church, we believe that God's doors are open to all who seek Him, and we strive to create a loving environment where individuals and families can grow in faith and fellowship.

At St. John the Evangelist Baptist Church, we believe the church is more than a building where people gather. We are a people called to worship God, grow in faith, serve others, reach our community, and build lives for the Kingdom.

Rooted in Faith. Reaching the Community. Rebuilding Lives.

"Rooted and built up in Him." - Colossians 2:7

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to glorify God through worship, discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, and service. Guided by God's Word and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to lead people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ while making a positive impact throughout Hazelwood and beyond.

Our Vision

We are more than a church that gathers—we are a church that worships, grows, serves, reaches, and builds. We Worship because God is worthy.
We grow, Rooted in Faith, because disciples need a foundation that can stand.
We engage in Missions because the Gospel must go beyond our walls.
We are Reaching the Community because people need to experience the love of Christ.
And we are Rebuilding Lives because we believe God restores, renews, and transforms. This is our season. A season to go deeper in worship, grow stronger in faith, reach farther through missions, and rebuild lives for the glory of God.

We Worship. We Serve. We Reach. We Rebuild.

All for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.

who we are

A Worshiping Church

We honor God through heartfelt worship, authentic praise, prayer, and lives that reflect His glory.

A Rooted Church

We are committed to growing deeper in God’s Word, stronger in faith, and closer to Jesus Christ. We believe strong disciples are built on a strong foundation.

A Missional Church

We believe ministry does not stop at the church doors. We are called to serve, to meet needs, to share the Gospel, and to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond.

A Reaching Church

We seek to reach people with the love of Christ, welcoming them into a community where they can encounter God, find belonging, and discover their purpose.

A Rebuilding Church

We believe God is still in the business of restoring lives. Through Christ, broken hearts can be healed, families can be strengthened, faith can be renewed, and lives can be transformed.

A Kingdom-Building Church

We equip disciples, develop leaders, strengthen families, and invest in the next generation so that what God is building through St. John will impact generations to come.

Our Church Family

We are a diverse and welcoming congregation united by our faith in Christ and our commitment to one another. Through worship services, Bible study, prayer ministries, youth programs, outreach efforts, and fellowship opportunities, we encourage believers of every generation to grow spiritually and serve faithfully.

Our church is more than a building; it is a family. We celebrate together, pray together, support one another through life's challenges, and seek to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community.
